ESCAPE TO THE SEA: HAVING FUN IN THE WATER IN PARADISE

What do you consider a fun day at the beach? Some of us love the idea of chilling out on a beach chair, soaking up the sun while sipping on frozen cocktails. While others are more adventurous and crave a more active experience. Luckily for us at our Beach House, you can choose to spend your time relaxing on a flotation platform surrounded by the sparkling turquoise ocean or having fun in the sea with some adrenalin pumping watersports. Let the ideas below inspire you to get in the water and enjoy the Cayman sunshine.

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a fun and easy way to enjoy your time in the ocean. Paddleboarders ride waves on long, buoyant surfboards using an oar to propel and steer themselves while standing up. What is so great about this sport is how accessible it is – the waves can be small (perfect for the calm waters of Seven Mile Beach) but the paddleboards are still buoyant enough for people to ride them. It is a fun way to get fit and maintain a beach body!

Snorkeling is a relaxing way to view the colourful and fascinating world just beneath the ocean’s surface. Snorkelers use a clear plastic mask and a short tube to breathe while floating face down on the surface of the water. This way you can observe coral and marine life without scaring away the fish with your movements and without having to come up for air every minute. The Artificial Reef Project, which is just a short swim from our beachfront is an amazing place to snorkel. Visitors often bring breadcrumbs to feed the vibrant fish surrounding the man-made reef balls. Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet!

For thrill-seekers, jet-skis or wave runners are a great way to spend time in the water. Jet-skis are recreational watercrafts that can carry one to two people. The average speed of a jet ski is around 50 miles an hour! Get your heart pumping by trying out a jet ski – it is definitely an adventure!

And for those who want to take in the beautiful setting that Seven Mile Beach offers, just sitting along the shoreline as the gentle waves entice you in is the perfect way to appreciate the paradise that surrounds you.
