At our Beach House, we are so excited about our Christmas Night Market, taking place on Friday, December 20th at Anchor & Den from 6pm. We will be featuring yummy festive street food stalls, Christmassy cocktails, live music and lots of retail therapy just in time for the holiday season!
We are also over the moon that Gemma Critchley, Founder of Cabinet Jewellery, will be joining us. With her strong childhood ties to Cayman, Gemma has created a range of beautiful and delicate jewellery pieces that are inspired by the endless summer lifestyle. Think exotic conceptual detailing meets intrinsically British roots! We absolutely love her impeccable designs, which attracts attention whenever people walk into our unique retail space, The Mercantile. We are so delighted to be the exclusive retailer of her beautiful line of jewellery in Cayman, including her paradise-inspired collection that includes elements of nature that can only be found in the Cayman Islands. Make sure to swing by her retail stall on the evening, where she will be showcasing all our gorgeous jewellery!
We were able to catch up with Gemma during her trip to Cayman to spend time with family and old friends this Christmas. Read on to hear more!
Gemma’s family travelled a great deal during her childhood and for her earlier years, she was overseas. She grew up in the Cayman Islands, where her parents lived for almost 20 years. Her father worked in marine biology, focusing on sea turtles. She grew up fascinated by botanicals and the continually changing pattern and colour of forms found in nature, always drawing upon this as an inspiration for new collections. Gemma designs collections for free-spirited individuals who have an appreciation for handmade jewellery and accessories, creating unique pieces that can be worn, defined and appreciated by its wearer however they choose.
We asked Gemma to tell us why she loves collaborating with our Beach House. She told us: “I love what the Marriott has created in Cayman with their boutique and holistic approach to both retail and beauty. They are showcasing and collaborating with interesting designers, makers and beauty brands who offer something totally unique to the island and its visitors. We are thrilled to be working with them and I feel they are the ideal partner for our jewellery given my love and links with the Island.”
When we asked Gemma what her vision of a perfect summer escape is, she fondly explained: “Heading out to a totally remote location with friends, taking a picnic and going exploring.”
Last but not least, we asked Gemma what her favourite piece of Cabinet Jewellery is to wear when in Cayman. She concluded: “My favourite piece is our little gold coin pendant with the Cayman Parrots engraved onto it. It’s so easy to layer up with other jewellery and holds some really special memories for me.”
