It may sound like a cliché, but there is nothing like watching a beautiful sunrise to remind us that we are lucky to be alive – right here, right now. Taking the time to gaze at the horizon while you watch the sun break through the morning sky is truly magnificent. It is a reminder of new beginnings and new opportunities.

It is just too bad that we hardly take the time (or wake up early enough) to make this a morning ritual. Living in Cayman we are lucky enough to have the luxury to witness the sunrise on most mornings. Perhaps some of the sunrise quotes below will help inspire you to set your alarm clock a few minutes earlier (tip: tomorrow’s sunrise is at 6:41am).

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” – Marcus Aurelius
“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.” – Rumi

“What is the good of your stars and trees, your sunrise and the wind, if they do not enter into our daily lives?” – E.M. Forster
“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.” – Bernard Williams

“At sunrise everything is luminous but not clear. It is those we live with and love and should know who elude us. You can love completely without complete understanding.” – Norman Maclean

“Life is a great sunrise. I do not see why death should not be an even greater one.” – Vladimir Nabokov

“Get outside. Watch the sunrise. Watch the sunset. How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel big or tiny? Because there’s something good about feeling both.” – Amy Grant

“For most people, we often marvel at the beauty of a sunrise or the magnificence of a full moon, but it impossible to fathom the magnitude of the universe that surrounds us.” – Richard H. Baker
